One of the larger beauty and hair-extension retailers in the US, with several South Florida superstores. Call the corporate office, not a branch — shop staff cannot list a new brand.
Broward — State Road 7
Lauderhill to North Lauderdale. The densest Caribbean retail strip in South Florida, and Jamaican, Trinidadian and Guyanese trade all sit within a few miles. One free afternoon belongs here.
Bedessee East-West Indian Foods
Not a corner shop. Bedessee is a Caribbean importer with Guyanese and Trinidadian roots, running Brooklyn, Florida and Canadian operations, already moving Caribbean goods into North America at volume. Personal care is not their core — but the route into the market is exactly what they own.

Miami-Dade — the two corridors
Mostly owner-operated independents, which is an advantage: the person behind the counter is usually the person who decides what gets stocked.
North Miami — NE 6th Ave & NE 2nd Ave
Elegant Beauty Supplies has a superstore at 14610 NE 6th Ave. Independents run down NE 2nd Avenue through Little Haiti, roughly 54th to 79th Street, and back up NE 6th Avenue.
Miami Gardens — NW 183rd St
The other Caribbean strip in the county, along NW 183rd Street and Miami Gardens Drive. Same pattern of independents.
Trinidad & Tobago Consulate General
Worth an appointment even at half an hour. The mission covers Florida plus nine other states, trade is part of its job, and a Trinidadian manufacturer testing a US market is exactly who it is there for.

Six questions per store
Asked the same way every time, ten shop visits become one comparable picture of the market instead of ten conversations.

- Who supplies them — direct from the brand, or a distributor? Which one?
- What size actually sells here, 8oz or 16oz?
- What do you retail the nearest thing to Caribbean Players for?
- Who decides what gets listed — you, or a head office?
- Would you buy direct from an overseas brand, or only through a Florida distributor?
Question two is the one that pays. Every answer names a distributor, and after ten shops the same two or three names keep coming back. That is the real target list — built from the market rather than from a search engine.
